Heather met Kristin at Lake Braddock (high school), on the speech team. They soon discovered they both loved the writings of Dave Barry, a nationally syndicated humor columnist. In 2002, Heather visited Kristin in London and they took a journey over to Italy, and they never wanted to leave Venice. Heather graduated from GMU, with a degree in English in 2005, and she was a writer, editor, and publisher for GMU's only independent newspaper, Expulsion, which is a very humorous newspaper, especially in issues that Heather contributed to. Look, in the future, for Heather as the nation's next nationally syndicated humor columnist. Currently, Heather works in Georgetown for an educational research organization, where she edits score reports for children.

Lynn is from Ohio and has seven brothers and sisters. She likes hiking and photography, sometimes at the same time. Kristin and Lynn met as servers at Sweetwater Tavern (in Centreville) in 2005, and they quickly became friends after they discovered a shared love for hiking and photography and also a perplexity over certain company rules. Lynn and Kristin like to do arts & crafts and to drink loose-leaf tea together. Lynn hopes to travel to Alaska and Europe someday. (Also, Lynn captured the wonderful image for the Kristin & John save-the-date magnet and also the image in the upper left-hand corner of this website.)

Janet is John's younger sister. She graduated from Radford University in 2006. She currently lives in Vienna, in preparation for the wedding, so she won't have to drive very far on the big day. Janet loves lounging on the beach and also playing volleyball on the beach, really almost anything that involves the beach. She just might show up at St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the honeymoon! Janet's favorite animal is the dolphin.

One time, Gracie and KVK each bought the ginormous sized smoothie at GMU and drank it all. They both got very, very sick. This is because one person cannot drank all of that wonderful frothiness by himself or herself. It is too much for one person to handle. Now Kristin is getting married. Grace hopes her and John will drink a ginormous smoothie together and be happy.

Lynnet comes from Zimbabwe. She graduated from the Mason MFA fiction program in 2007. In 2006, Lynnet won the Golden Yak award for fiction. She has a poster of David Beckham in her office and one of Bob Marley in her bedroom. Lynnet lives in a house in Vienna that was a speak-easy during prohibition.

Glenn is best friends with John. And also roommates. They met at Virginia Tech. Glenn thought he was going to have a single dormitory room, all to himself, and then at the last minute, the housing office stuck John with him. Even now as working professionals, the two still live together. Glenn earned his degree in computer engineering and he does computer related things in his career, working for CGI. Glenn is from VA Beach. He grew up helping his parent's with their restaurants; Glenn is an excellent cook, but will not be catering the wedding.

Derrick is Kristin's brother. He is a third-year at Kutztown University in PA, where he is studying business marketing. Derrick's true passion is in film; one day he plans to be in a blockbuster hit. When Derrick is back home during college breaks he works at a used music and DVD store. In 2002, when K, D, and J visited the National Shine Grotto of Lourdes (mistakenly thinking it was a cave), there was a water spigot with a sign welcoming visitors to drink and wash from the holy water; Derrick took this as an invitation to take a bath. Derrick's idea of a perfect day would start at the beach and then he would take the Cash Cab to the movies, and watch the Arrested Development movie. Derrick is 6'2".

Jason is Kristin's brother, also the youngest of the VK kids. He is in his second semester in college at NOVA. He plans to transfer to GMU, JMU, or UVA next year (Kristin votes for JMU) and get a degree in something scientific. Jason likes World of Warcraft and his guild does very well because of Jason's skills and commitment and super high powered gaming computer. When Jason was a toddler, he would close his eyes if he was angry, and Derrick and Kristin would have to lead him around, so he wouldn't bump his head. But he got lots of head bumps anyways. If Jason could travel to anywhere in the world, he would go to Iceland.

Chris is Heather's brother, but also sort of like Kristin and John's brother. Or cousin. But, like Heather, he is Brad and Kimmy's real cousin. He graduated from VA Tech summa cum laude in 2007 and now works at Johns Hopkins University in their genetic testing lab. Chris plans to pursue a master's degree in microbiology at JHU. Last summer, Chris traveled around the world in three weeks, hitting up Ireland, Puerto Rico, and Ocean City, MD. Chris has really good taste in music. Also, Chris is a very fast runner; don't try to race him.

Joe is John's younger brother, but when you're looking at childhood photos, you'd think they were twins. Joe is a Ranger Medic in the army and lives mostly in Georgia. Last year, he completed his first tour of duty in Iraq and he will be leaving soon for his second tour in the Middle East. Joe owns a Jeep and he likes working on it and driving it around.
